These images have been made by scratching and painting school tables. Doing what is forbidden to do. The tables are from 1988 and in all this time we have failed. For decades we have been only occasionally able to compensate for inequalities of origin, turning these tables and classrooms into memorials of efforts, achievements and failures, disruptions and rightly anti-school attitudes. The blows and noise, the violated bodies and damaged subjectivities should signal the urgency.
Is there a space to breathe between the “no future” and the impossible and paralyzing utopia? How to grow in the face of the promised inheritance of destruction and annihilation? Is there a possible shelter for our overflowing desire, despite everything?
